Xplornet is Canada's largest rural high speed internet provider. They have high speed wireless internet towers throughout many areas of Ontario and Canada. Recently the government has invested funding into southern Ontario to provide broadband internet access to certain townships that previously were unable to get high speed internet. A couple of these government funded areas are the Northumberland and Northumberland County. Xplornet has partnered with these townships to provide that broadband high speed internet access. The main avenue that Xplornet has implemented to provide broadband access to the homes and businesses in those areas is by high speed wireless internet. They have erected multiple towers across those areas to blanket them with high speed internet access. The customer must then have an antenna installed at their location that picks up the internet signal wirelessly. In most cases the customer needs a good line of site to the tower without obstructions from trees, hills or buildings. If they are unable to get a good signal after Skyview Electronics has done an onsite test then satellite internet is a good alternative choice for receiving high speed internet access. In this case a dish is installed at the customer's location. This system not only downloads but also uploads via satellite so it is a two way high speed satellite internet system.
